Do you think he is telling me to stop taking photos of him? LIke that is actually going to happen.

Lightroom aficionados you should RUN not walk over to Kevin Kubota’s site. He has a wonderful DVD about Lightroom RAW workflow and 90 presets are included.  The price is 99.00 and I think it is money well spent. I used the “Old is New again” preset on the photo below.

Most of the ladies from the Me Ra Workshop know that I am a HUGE Lightroom fan-so you shouldn’t be surprised to learn that I am going to the Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 Live here in Chicago on July 20th. I cannot wait!

Quick note here for my fellow Lightroom addicts- Adobe is running several free seminars during April and May. You can find out more by following this link! I just watched the first one, which is going to be repeated in May, and it was very good and informative. The eseminar didn’t last more than hour and it was filled with good tips about importing and good practices. The next one I am scheduled for is about Lightroom and Photoshop. Take a look my friends, you won’t be disappointed. I PROMISE!

Ok-I didn’t really get lost in the way that most people get lost. I spent this morning looking for tips and tricks using Adobe Lightroom. I LOVE the internet! You can google just about anything and get, at the very least, 10 pages of answers to a simple search. I did a search for “Lightroom Tutorials”  and look at all the pages that came up. How crazy is that?  So as I am sitting here at my kitchen counter and waiting for our next SNOWSTORM, in April no less, I got lost looking at all the amazing sites that offer great tips and tricks for Lightroom. I know that many of the Me Ra Workshop ladies have seen the Lightroom way and are using it on a daily basis. Ladies-this post is for you! Check out these sites for great tips and tutorials.

Lightroom Killer Tips - One of the best in my opinion

The Lightroom Lab - yep - got lost in here

Lightroom Secrets - here too!

The Lightroom Queen - No this isn’t me- but it could be. I feel like the Lightroom Queen at times

The Lightroom Lab - spent quite a bit of time in here

Lightroom Forums - A great place for information and help with Lighroom issues.

Image-Space - Tips and a free e-book download

We are waiting for a storm today that is supposed to bring us 3-4 inches of snow. Here is a photo from LAST Sunday’s snow storm. Have I mentioned that I am really ready for winter to go away? Have I mentioned that I miss living in San Diego from December through April.

PS- I am not loving the upgrade of Wordpress to 2.7. I am having issues with the sizing of my photos. I may have to look for a new layout so I don’t have to compress the sizes. Any suggestions out there??

Photo Shoot

February 2, 2009

On first day of the Me Ra Workshop, a friend of mine sent me a text that his son had arrived bright and early that Saturday morning. When I learned that he was going to become a Dad, I had asked if I could come and take photos once everything settled down. Jaxson arrived mid November and it wasn’t until this past weekend that we could coordinate all our schedules. As a mom of three grown children, I was so excited to see this little one and get some photos of Mom and Dad as well. You know I was thinking I was such a hot shot until I got home and realized that some how my Auto WB had been switched to FLASH-ACK! BUT because I shoot RAW and use Lightroom, I was able to save every photo! Yeah ME!

Mom and Dad were great and little Jaxson-oooh they are going to have their hands full. We tried to get a few shots of Jaxson on his tummy and he was having none of that. We laid him down and those arms and legs started moving and he was holding that head of his right up. Jaxson is one strong little baby!

First up-A Father and his son-how sweet is this photo?

Next- A Mother giving her son that warm soft place to lay his head-my heart just about melted when I saw this photo

Last but not least-Dad’s big hands surrounding that very tiny little head

Me Ra has posted about our lighting conditions during our workshop. Please wander over there to see the amazing photos from all the women who were there.

Why I love Lightroom

January 3, 2009

In the previous post, I put up a photo of my mom and her dear friends. I took the photos in a restaurant in so so lighting using my SB800 flash and my “kit” lens that has an aperature of 3.5-5. I was full of myself thinking that I could manage to get a few good photos since I learned so much at the Me Ra Koh workshop. Hah! Fat Chance. They looked liked this before I did anything to them in Lightroom. This is the advantage of shooting RAW and using Lightroom to fix my lack of knowledge. I used Lightroom to fix my exposure and do a bit of color adjusting along with adding a post crop vignette. I then brought the photo into PS CS3 and ran an action by Pioneer Woman called Color Boost. If you are shooting RAW and using just Photoshop, I encourage you to download a demo of Lightroom and play around with it.

Mike & Lightroom 2

September 17, 2008

More testing of Lightroom 2 presets. This one is called Creative-Aged Photo. I wonder why Mike looks so serious. He is just like me. He hates getting in front of the camera. We are just not comfortable having our photos taken. We are very critical of how we look. I give him a lot of credit for letting me snap away!
